If there is one thing you can count on while living in DTLA, it is that you get some of the best views of the entire city. That especially goes for the views from the rooftop bars. In particular, those located at the top of the best hotels near AVEN.

Spire 73

On the 73rd floor of the InterContinental Hotel is our first rooftop bar called Spire 73. Located at 900 Wilshire Blvd, Spire 73 will give you the tallest view of them all. In fact, you will get a view of the entire city of Los Angeles from here. A great spot to grab a drink before dinner at their restaurant 71 Above, our top three favorite drinks here are the Seoul Margarita, the Dorian Gray, and the Korean Paloma. Do know that this bar is one of the pricier rooftop bars on this list. That said, get there earlier before 8 PM, and avoid the $25 cover charge. Also, the earlier you arrive the easier it will be to get a prime spot to enjoy both your drink and the view.

Broken Shaker

Up next on our list of rooftop bars is our favorite, Broken Shaker. Located atop the Freehand Hotel at 416 W. 8th Street, what we love most is the decor. While drinking your delicious cocktail, Broken Shaker gives you a South Beach vibe in the middle of Los Angeles. Another fun thing about grabbing drinks here is that you are next to the pool area decorated with tropical flowers, truly giving you that beach vibe. Best of all, the pool area is open to guests, giving you the chance to sip on your drink by the water. So, whenever you are in need of a “vacation” make your way over to Broken Shaker.

Upstairs Bar

Then we have the Upstairs Bar located above the Ace Hotel. Take note that the Upstairs Bar is one of the bars on this list with longer hours. Open from 11 AM to 2 AM, you also have a pool view to enjoy. And just like Broken Shaker, you can lounge by the pool area with your drink. When it comes to the menu, they have some great nachos. Our favorite cocktail would have to be the Lisa Frank. Also, you can order drinks by the pitcher for $60, which is a great deal. We suggest getting a pitcher of the white sangria or tequila ice tea.

The Rooftop

Last but certainly not least is The Rooftop at The Standard Hotel. Quick pro-tip about this bar, get their early so you can snag one of the water beds. And the best part about The Rooftop is that there is no cover charge!

If any of you are trying to stay frugal this 2019, then head to our Ojai Deck, grab an orange or a lemon, mix your own mojito and take in the view from your very own home at AVEN.
